Superstitious fans

The website onlinecasino.ca surveyed 2,024 sports fans about their superstitions. I’ve summarized what I think are the most interesting results. You can read their summary here.

11% thought that their own personal rituals helped their team win and 21% thought maybe they did.

9% thought that a fan putting on a lucky hat or changing seats during a game can impact a play or the game. 14% thought maybe it could.

27% could recall at least one time when they felt that their personal ritual impacted the result of a game.

Overall, around 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 fans believe, or at least concede the possibility, that they can impact a game in which they are not playing through their own personal rituals.

Next time you’re trying to convince someone that their irrational beliefs don’t make logical sense, keep these statistics in mind.

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
